The Shaker design is credited to the Shaker Society but in fact this simple five piece style pre dates the society by decades and probably century’s. Modern understanding of Shaker doors starts with four pieces of wood formed to make a frame which fits around a central filler panel. This design can be enhanced by routing the inner edge of the frame with various styles of beading although not strictly Shaker it is sometimes referred to as Shaker style. The benefit of the simplest of the design is the flexibility to be used in traditional, classic and contemporary bathroom andkitchen designs in both timber and coloured finishes. Regardless of the “Shaker” door origin the design is a favourite.
